Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By using Manitowoc County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool passes directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log or stored copy of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Loading a page can cause the servers and analytics services to receive ordinary technical visit data:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Visited pages and time spent on them
  • Browser name and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Referring website, when supplied
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that support traffic measurement, such as which pages receive visits and where sessions end. Analytics providers combine that activity into broader usage reports. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
  • Operating pages and maintaining reasonable load times
  • Routing a search request to the provider that serves the tool
  • Measuring which resources are useful or need improvement
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a personal criminal-record database. Published material explains how to reach Manitowoc County sheriff records, the Circuit Court clerk, Wisconsin DOJ's Crime Information Bureau, and the Wisconsin Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal record, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies run the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. We do not control those practices, so review the provider's policy before running a search.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to courts, sheriff pages, Wisconsin agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the destination's privacy policy governs. Read it before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to recognize activity across sites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Depending on the feature used, information may be available to:

  • Analytics companies measuring traffic and performance
  • Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving ads on these pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access can never be ruled out completely.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with applicable law. Wisconsin government records are governed separately by the Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, while criminal-history repository duties and dissemination operate under Wis. Stat. §§ 165.83 and 165.84. For data held directly by this private resource, you can:

  • Opt out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
  • Request deletion of personal data we control
  • Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Request a copy of personal information held about you

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. Any replacement will appear here with an updated effective date, and continued use after publication is subject to the revised policy.
